Shanghai Zhaoxin Semiconductor Co., Ltd. ("Zhaoxin") is a state-owned company established in 2013 and a leading domestic IC design house, where headquartered in Zhangjiang, Shanghai, with R&D centers and domestic branch offices in Beijing, Wuhan, Shenzhen and Xi’an. There are more than 1200 employees totally, most of our R&D designer and engineers have master or doctorate degrees.
We are the only domestic company owing the interlocutory practice for all three of the major core technologies, namely, central processing unit (CPU), graphics processing unit (GPU) and chipset. Each of these technologies has a full design by ourselves, with the R&D of all three core technologies being developed and controlled locally. These products have the best performance nationwide technologies. The CPU incomplete with mainstream x86 architecture, is currently the only domestic CPU, completely replace foreign products of the same type.
Domestic x86 general-purpose processing units are robust, stable, reliable and widely accepted.
We are committed to developing and mass-producing, in-house designed, CPU. The “Kaixian” ZX-C series demonstrates high-end GPU along with relevant software products, which are self-developed by us. The ZX-C family is currently in mass production. Moreover, there are multiple brands of desktop and notebook computers which have been mass-produced today. These products are completely qualified to replace foreign platform computers of similar types.
Computers built with our in-house developed CPUs were demonstrated in the Exhibition of the National Twelfth Five-Year Plan Science and Technology Innovation Achievements in June, 2016, attracting great attention and affirmation from industry leaders. By demonstrating leading performance as well as outstanding design quality, “Kaixian” ZX-C series CPU were awarded with a golden medal in the 18th China International Industry Fair in November, 2016.
“Kaixian” ZX-C series is a 28nm process based quad-core CPU technology designed for productivity software with a clock speed of up to 2.0 GHz and a power consumption of down to 18 W. The matching chipset supports dual-channel DDR3-1600, PCIE3.0, SATA3.0 and other high speed interfaces; integrated with a high-performance GPU, it supports HDMI, DP and other HD display standards.
“Kaixian” ZX-C series CPU have recently been widely adopted in desktops, laptops, all-in-one machines, storage servers, disk arrays, industrial control computers and many other types of products. With an MTBF of over 100,000 hours, these computer products are used in China’s government and army organizations, information offices and other national key systems and engineering projects.
We build a full end-to-end solution with from underground hardware to the up-level software applications. These solutions are compatible with x86 applications and supports the domestic BIOS; as well as a whole series of Microsoft Windows and most Linux variants - including Ubuntu, NeoKylin, iSOFT, NFS-China, Redhat, and CentOS. In addition, many domestic Independent Software Vendors (ISV) like Kingsoft and DM have collaborated with us.
Desktop OEM manufacturers and system integrators such as Lenovo, Tongfang, Great Wall, Shanghai INESA, Wanda and Shanghai Internet Software Co., Ltd. are in the process of introducing our products to their top-tier customer and partners. In the field of servers and storage applications, we have also cooperated closely with Lenovo, SuperCloud, Marstor and other domestic computer suppliers. In the field of industrial personnel computer, we are in cooperation with EVOC, TOPSEC, Jionus, Shanghai INESA and others. With high performance, low power consumption, robust software and hardware compatibility, our products are used in both normal and critical fields.
High Performance Embedded Products Targeted in SARFT’s TVOS Smart Set-Top-Box
In the embedded field, we focus on the research and development of high-performance ARM architecture SoCs. The products are based on advanced process technology, with advanced security features, Chips can meet the highest security standards for digital content protection. We also have design, research and development capabilities in GPU which lead the domestic market.
Our new generation ZX-2000 products are built with 64-bit GPUs which can achieve 60GFLOPS of floating-point computation capability, and this enables ZX-2000 have higher performance at a lower cost than Mali T740. It also supports UHD 4K video decoding, 4K display and advanced encryption algorithm for SARFT’s smart set-top-box. Users can have a greater audio-visual experience in game and image rendering than similar products, which is from the huge advantages of our own GPU.
Our high-performance chips based on the ARM architecture, have great strengths in processing VR content. With the development of VR in the future, our chips are becoming a trend. The capability of researching and developing our own GPU can enable us prominent advantages in further development in VR world.
Having participated in the development of the DVBC market, Zhaoxin made the mass production of smart set-top-box with TVOS under the leadership of the Academy of Broadcasting Science. Our first generation ZX-1000 product is targeted at smart set-top-box with the TVOS platform, with fully participating in the development of TVOS. At present, high-performance SoCs including ZX-1000 and ZX-2000 have achieved successful commercialization. More than one million sets of SARFT’s TVOS boxes with our built-in ARM SoCs have been shipped.
We strengthened our position in the industry by establishing long-term collaborative relationships with the industry partners in the field of embedded products. We will continue to closely follow ARM technology advancement to produce higher performing products for other market segments as well.
At present, our products are leading the industry with robust hardware that is compatible with multiple operating systems. This effort is helping develop the domestic ecosystem. We have developed our own CPU to fulfill the mission for prospering China's domestic information industry.
